Purpose

Use the KWHL tool as a study aid by relating new information to what you already know and what you want to learn. After locating sources, use the card to summarize your new information.

Tips

»	Use this tool to help you understand what you already know and what new stuff you will learn in school.
»	Use this tool before you begin learning new stuff. It helps you get your mind ready to learn the new stuff.
»	Put in the K what you already know about the topic you are learning.
»	Then put in the W what you want or expect to learn about it in class.
»	Use the H to list sources you will check for information.
»	Afterwards put in the L what you actually learned and compare it with what you wanted or expected to learn.
